I had to write a review after an experience with this Insignia player last week. I was hiking beside a stream and dropped the player into the water. OOPS! Needless to say, the player got drenched and stopped working, so I took the player home, opened the back cover, and placed the opened player in the sun and waited for it to dry. After I was sure that the player was dry, I reassembled the player and pushed the ‘on’ button without expecting much. However, PRESTO!, the player started up like new and it’s been working ever since without a glitch. Prior to purchase, I had researched and tried several mp3 players around at this price range. This Insignia player was simply the best deal around. It’s perfect for outdoor activities such as jogging or hiking.

This MP3 player is excellent! I got it to replace a (horrible) Sansa c250, and the difference is night and day. Long battery life, very high contrast screen, sane UI.
The one quirk I noticed with it is that if it’s not powered on before I plug it into my computer, it resets itself to factory defaults. (but retains the music still). Also, it’d be nice if it took something like a microSD memory card, as the player is awesome, but it would be nice to perhaps upgrade it to increased storage.
Update: I ended up with another one of these players (long story!), and it doesn’t exhibit the reset-on-plug-in quirk described above. So maybe it was fixed with a particular firmware or something.
